Multiple Mitel MiVoice PBXs can be networked together to allow calls to be routed from one node to another. This allows calls to be handled by devices (agent, endpoints, voicemail etc) on other nodes to where the call originated from and allows calls to be made through trunks on remote nodes using of ARS.
Each device connected to the PBX has a specific node that they are programmed against and they connect to. Due to this the system needs to now about these nodes and what there connection details are.
For example, when using a Phone Manager Softphone, this softphone would need to connect to the specific node that it has been programmed onto. If connecting from the internal LAN network then the internal IP address of the node would be required. If connecting from a remote location then the external NAT IP address would be required.
When recording SIP trunks or SIP endpoints then these IP addresses are used to determine the type of call (i.e. is this a trunk or endpoint) and the call direction.
To access the node configuration section for the PBX select the connection under Phone Systems then scroll down on the right to underneath the Devices section.
When the PBX connection is first created and devices imported any nodes that are connected will be created and the internal IP address configured with the default SIP port of 5060. If nodes are not listed then click on Add to create a new entry. Configure each node with the correct NAT IP address. The NAT IP address should be set to the same value that is configured in the Mitel Database Programming.
